Current Standings

Tigers (10-17), Breakers (21-6)

The regular season wraps up when the Melbourne Tigers host the New Zealand Breakers on Saturday.

The first-place Breakers are coming off a remarkable fourth-quarter performance against Adelaide on Wednesday, where they crushed the 36ers 30-6.

The Breakers finished the game shooting 55 percent, with Thomas Abercrombie topping the scores with 26 points.

With Game 1 of their Semi Final series looming, Breakers coach Andrej Lemanis is walking the line between fine tuning his team's form and keeping a watchful eye on his starter's minutes.

Gary Wilkinson sat out against Adelaide with the flu and Lemanis has said the star import won't play in this game either if he hasn't completely recovered, which would see BJ Anthony inherit his minutes.

The Tigers have lost four of their last five games and are looking to avoid a season sweep against New Zealand.

Last week they led by seven points after three periods against the Townsville Crocodiles, but saw the game slip away during a horror 12-29 fourth quarter.

It was a similar story the last time they played the Breakers, when a 15-29 fourth quarter saw their four-point advantage quickly dissolve.

Cam Tragardh exploded for a season-high 35 points in that game, he'll be met by Mika Vikona in the paint, while a pair of veteran trash-talking point guards in Corey Williams and CJ Bruton have a chance to claim bragging rights.

New Zealand have won four of their past five against the Tigers, another win on Saturday will lift Lemanis' coaching record to exactly 50 percent on his NBL career, he's currently at 92-93 all-time.
